On October 16, 2010, North East
Westchester Special Recreation will be hosting its fifth annual dinner
dance at The Fountainhead in New Rochelle. We invite you to be a dinner sponsor,
donate a gift for
the silent auction, advertise in the commemorative dinner journal, or make a
donation to our worthy cause.

This years’ event
will be a tribute to “our stars”. “Our stars” are our
participants and the evening will honor them. The event will speak of accomplishments,
friendships and growth. We are encouraging families to purchase tables of
ten where we will bring special acknowledgement to their son or daughter
through personal recognition at their table. If that level of sponsorship
is not an option for you, we do provide for individual as well as small
group seating. It is a time to include other family members in celebration.
It is a time to join together to support a program that is important to
your family.
This is a very challenging time for North East Westchester Special Recreation.
The good news is that our programs are at capacity, our participants and
their families are thrilled with our programs, and we enjoy a positive reputation
statewide for the service we provide. The challenge is that the cost to
operate is ever increasing and the NYS budget shortfalls have drastically
affected our revenue stream. Due to an imposed transition to Medicaid Waiver
billing, our ability to obtain reimbursement for a number of our expenses
has diminished.
This gala is critical to our success. In order for us to continue to provide
recreation for the number of children and adults interested in our services,
we must identify additional sources of revenue. We strive to raise the funds
to provide programming for all children and adults with developmental disabilities
who are interested in therapeutic recreation. We are committed to maintaining
a quality program despite potential financial hardship.
We hope that you will be a part of our successful event through sponsorship,
by donating a silent auction item, buying a journal ad, or by attending
the dinner. To show our appreciation for your generosity, you will be prominently
mentioned in the evening's journal.
