NorthEast Program Schedule

Registration ended on June 12, 2010 for or in-district residents and on June 14, 2010 for out-of-district residents. You may send your registration to us prior to that date and we will hold it until the 15th. At that time, out-of-district residents will be accepted in the order the registrations were received by our office, as room permits.]
Persons applying to a North East Program for the first time must go through our initial intake process. This includes completion of a Participant Information Form and a personal consultation with one of our full-time staff to examine and plan for the program needs of the applicant and his/her family.

At least every three years thereafter, consultations may be arranged to review the needs and interests of each participant and his/her family. However, additional consultations may be promptly scheduled when a specific concern or difficulty has been identified.

We are continually assessing our programs and participants' needs. We reserve the right to change and/or recommend placement as we deem appropriate, although we will discuss this with those involved, the final decision will be made by North East.

We would like to support your son/daughter’s interest in participating in your local community recreation department program. We would be available to: assess the appropriateness of an intended placement in a program, visit the participant at the program to ensure continued success, or consider providing a staff member to attend the program with the participant for a limited time.

FEES:
A moderate fee structure exists for most programs. These fees are a small percent of our actual program costs. All program fees must be paid in full with the enclosed registration form unless you have been approved for a payment plan. When necessary, payment schedules may be arranged, and partial scholarships are available on a limited basis to those participants in the North East district. If you are interested in applying for a scholarship or payment plan, please call our office immediately to request the necessary paperwork.

CANCELLATION POLICY:
If a program needs to be cancelled, normally due to poor weather conditions, an announcement will be made on superstation WMJV 106.3FM and WFAS 103.9FM radio or on WFAS web site at: www.wfasfm.com. You may also access this information by calling our office. If a cancellation must be made at the "last minute" we will attempt to call all program participants. If a program is cancelled, we will attempt to reschedule it if possible.

TRANSPORTATION:
While North East is able to provide transportation for several programs, please consider car pooling and para-transit when possible.

CAR POOLING:
We will provide you with the names of coparticipants in any program for which you plan to arrange car pooling. Parents wishing their name withheld from circulation must indicate this on the registration form.

LATE PICK-UPS:
North East staff have been instructed to wait with participants at pick up locations until parents/guardians arrive. When you are late it creates a problem since we have to pay staff for their time. For this reason, we will charge $10 for every 15 minutes you are late in picking up.

PARA-TRANSIT:
Para-transit is public, curb to curb, transportation alternative for adults and young adults with differing abilities. Para-transit does provide services to and from recreation programs. Paratransit is especially available for recreation in the evenings and on weekends. Contact the Office for the Disabled at 995-2957.

For the first hour, we will have a group swim. The second hour will include a variety of activities including: arts & crafts, nature, table games, group games, sports and more. We will bring our activities inside at this site in the event of rain.
Bowling TUESDAYS - June 29, July 6, 13, 20, 27, August 3 3:30-5:30pm	$150	Jefferson Valley Lanes BGC pick-up 3pm, return 6pm; WARC pick-up 3pm, no return; PRC return only 6pm	Bowling is a great way to get out of the heat and spend time with your friends! A record of each bowler's weekly progress will be maintained and averages will be handed out at the end of the session. This program is a great way to socialize with friends, have fun and improve your bowling skills.
Special Olympics Softball WEDNESDAY June 23; THURSDAYS: July 1, 8, 15, 22, 29, August 12, 19 6:30-8:00pm (No program Aug 5)	$60	Katonah Memorial Park MK pick-up 6:00pm, return 8:15	Experience the benefits of team work, skill development and camaraderie. We will start with warm-ups, move on to sports drills and finish every practice with a team scrimmage. All skill levels welcome! Equipment is available. You must wear sneakers and comfortable clothes. (No shoes please!) Rules and team work will be reinforced, as well as socialization with other players and coaches.. BRING WATER! In case of inclement weather, program will be cancelled.

"Summer Outings" Connecticut Canoe Trip Saturday July 31	$37	Avon, CT	This is truly an outstanding, fun experience! Join North East on a leisurely float down the calm Farmington River! The day long excursion will include a chance to picnic alongside the largest tree in Connecticut. Please bring lunch and wear clothes and sneakers you won’t mind getting wet! * You will need to paddle and participate on this trip. Life jackets are provided. The river is only waist deep. Prepare to get wet!

Overnight Camping Trip Saturday July 17 to Sunday July 18	$58	Blue Mountain Peekskill	Be a part of our Summer Camping trip at Blue Mountain in Peekskill! Enjoy hiking, games, arts & crafts, campfires and so much more. Both cabins and tents will be available. A packing list will be mailed to all who register.

Katonah Picnic August 14 (Rain location: Bedford Hills Memorial House)	$37	Katonah Memorial Park	What more could you ask for than good friends, good food and good fun? We’ll have it all! Come join us for an old favorite. We’ll have a cookout, play plenty of games including softball, water balloons, trivia, charades and much more. The picnic will take place rain or shine.
Vacation Week Frost Valley Sunday August 22 - Friday August 27	$650	Catskills	Participants must be 16 and older. Previous overnight experience with North East required! Transportation, 3 meals a day, snacks, lodging, nursing, medical services and all activities included. Frost Valley is a beautiful YMCA camp in the Catskills. This six day trip is packed with enjoyable activities such as: hiking, boating, swimming, cycling, archery, group sports, arts and crafts, hayrides, a talent show, dancing, campfires, storytelling, sing-alongs, the cable bridge, a ropes adventure course and a visit to the planetarium. Challenging and exciting! The camp also provides nursing and medical services. A checklist and all additional information will be mailed upon receipt of registration and payment. (A lottery system may be applied.)
Hudson Valley Renegades Baseball Game Thursday September 2 (Game time 7:05pm)	$37	*	Come help us cheer on the Hudson Valley Renegades as they take on the Staten Island Yankees. A snack bar dinner will be included. A sure way to enjoy an evening out at the ‘ol ball game.
Red Bulls Soccer Game Saturday September 11 (Game time 4pm)	$37	*	Come help us cheer on the Red Bulls as they take on the Colorado Rapids at this late afternoon game.
